This impressive antique orbital fireplace in deep black marble is a particularly fine and rare specimen. The fireplace is characterized by its rich decoration: an ornate central cartouche on the frieze, flanked by diamond-shaped inlays and round medallions on the pilasters, all executed in dark Belgian rouge marble. The warm red-brown of the rouge forms a beautiful and dramatic contrast to the deep black of the frame. The wide, tightly profiled top frame and heavy pedestal blocks give this piece a monumental, confident appearance.
